volchyayagoda sent: re: an earlier ask you received, i'm 99% sure that "comic books' history of being a medium for jewish empowerment" was referring to the fact that so many early creators (jack kirby, stan lee, joe simon, jerry siegel, joe shuster, bill finger, bob kane, etc.) were jewish men who found success in comics during a period when antisemitism was at an all-time high. erasing a character's jewish identity, when the comics industry owes so much to jewish creators, is both insulting and infuriating.
